Group show, 2011, Gasworks Gallery, London, UK
For the Gasworks gallery exhibition Renata created sonic installation that functioned as a specially composed a sonosphere.
Gallery and non-gallery spaces are both sites for making and showing art, and that it is not a question of a specific site but it concerns the critical engagement that takes place within different spatio-temporal contexts. We have selected ideas, material, and information from all kinds of different sources to create something new, (in a way, selecting from chaos in order to communicate), focusing on the negotiations between strategies employed in the articulation of collaborative work we present. In order to build capacity and knowledge by engaging in process of inquiry through collaborative effort and exchange, collectivity is examined as a proliferating self-protective device in a way of generating ideas that one person cannot do alone. The goal of research and of constructing new knowledge can be arrived at from different points of view. Individual effort alone is not sufficient; the final source of power is given not by a vacuum, but by sense of a community. Our approach to this exhibition and work we collectively presented dwell in undefined zone in between what you would understand as solo and group exhibition – any genres of solo/group exhibition collapsed. It appears as a rejection of heroic proportions of the individual, but it does not mean that the individual is less visible.
as well as designed a collective’s communication platform, schizo-transmissions.com. Our initiative does not position itself as the termination – a “finished product” to be contemplated – but as a site of navigation, a portal, a generator of activities. Creative and critical inquiry of the collective responds to research demands by exploring the unknown, and this presents an essential vantage point in critiquing the known.
